We use our own scream, our own rage as a political tool.

The video installation is a collaborative project involving eight other women from different countries. The idea arose from my own urge to express the anger and frustration that had been suppressed within me since the onset of the full-scale war in Ukraine. I went to the Narva riverbank, which serves as a border between Estonia and Russia, and I screamed towards Russia. One of the videos captures that moment. Given the enduring stigma that suggests women shouldn’t express anger or raise their voices, I offered other women the opportunity to scream out their own anger loudly in places of their choosing. For some of them, hearing their own screams was a powerful and therapeutic moment. In the video installation, I aim to ensure that each person’s individual voice is heard, as well as our shared anger.
