Cutbacks

Both series Cutbacks and Cutbacks – Figures are part of one work, consisting of collages made from abandoned fibre-based photographic posters that I found in the cellar of one of the buildings of a closed textile mill Kreenholm in Estonia in 2016. Produced in the early 1980s, the images were originally displayed outside the mill, celebrating its workers and machines. I cut out the figures of the workers and filled their silhouettes with a hand-painted Photoshop pattern. I then glued the figures onto blank white paper, where they appear to float, removed from their original working environment.
