Group Photo
2017
An installation with the orchestrated 4 carousel-type slide projectors displays hundreds of photo collages made of the group photos I collected from the former workers of a closed textile mill in Estonia. In each slide I left a singular figure to float in an emptied space of the once group photo, which strongly associated with the lost community these people feel nostalgic about. The consistent rhythm of projectors aims to transform an exhibiting space into a mill with never ceased looms.
Three panels with carefully selected and edited interview-quotes from dozens of different workers can be read as a compact story told by one worker about the prosperity, the fall of the mill and hardship of female workers.
